It is with profound sadness that we must inform you of the passing of our Club President, Cyrus Elion. He passed away on Saturday, March 5th, 2016, after a brief illness. He is survived by his daughter Christen and son CJ.

Cyrus was an active member of the Board of Commissioners of the Homewood Flossmoor Soccer Club for many, many years having served the past 5 years as President. Before his tenure on the Board of Commissioners, he was a highly regarded coach in our recreational program. Cyrus was a truly wonderful man who loved the game of soccer and more importantly the children that played the game. His easy-going demeanor, sense of humor and ready smile endeared him to all who met him. The Homewood Flossmoor Soccer Club is truly a better organization because of his vision and dedication.

Cyrus’ passing is not only a loss for the HFSC but the greater Homewood/Flossmoor community as well. Cyrus served on Homewood's Fire and Police Commission and could be found providing friendly customer service at the Home Depot in Homewood several days a week.

Cyrus regularly included the following quote by John Wooden on the agenda for the monthly Board of Commissioners meeting:

"It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen."

Cyrus' attention to the "little things" certainly made big things happen for the Homewood Flossmoor Soccer Club. His legacy of leadership will not soon be forgotten.

Sincerely,

The Board of Commissioners
